The conference aims to examine aspects of continuity, discontinuity and change in the cultic milieu of the multi-ethnic Southern Levant over an extended period of time, roughly from Alexander the Great to the conversion of Constantine (ca. 300 BCE - 4th c. CE). These issues will be addressed both synchronically and diochronically, along three difference axes -- cultic places, personell, and objects. The current denominator shared by these three axes are the peope whose beliefs and practices shaped religious behaviour in the Greco-Roman southern Levant.
