Shallow Cumulus clouds are an important component in the atmosphere as they modulate the radiative fluxes and participate in the vertical transport of heat, humidity, trace gas, and aerosols. These complex and vital players are represented in weather and climate models by parametrizations based on a description of steady-state horizontally homogenous plumes. While these parametrizations are a major source of uncertainty in the models, the process of cloud mixing stands out as a dominant driver of the spread in models' results.
