Master's Degree in Oceanography

Oceans play a crucial role in the climate system and other important processes on Earth. They are a source of various resources (such as energy, food, desalinated water), enable the passage of modes of transportation, and are of great importance to the well-being and economy of mankind. Due to their complexity and importance, exploration of the oceans poses a fascinating scientific challenge with practical implications. The Department of Oceanography offers outstanding students in earth sciences, physics, chemistry, life sciences, and engineering postgraduate research opportunities in physical, chemical, biological, and geophysical oceanography, using theoretical methods, experimental research and fieldwork. Research opportunities include disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. The curriculum in oceanography is common to the Institutes of Earth Sciences and Life Sciences, and includes inter-university courses that take place at the Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences in Eilat.
